Treaty of Augustinople
A Compact
Between the Venerable states of the
Holy Empire of New Israel
Kingdom of Trebia
Confederation of Renfrew
Empire of Pavlov
To proclaim to ye states of Christendom of the creation of the Holy League, a fraternal union of Christian states devoted to the protection of our most holy Church against all heathens and heretics.
We, Markus II, Emperor of New Israel, and Paolo Emilio I, King of Trebia; Brendan O'Brien, Governor-General of Renfrew, and Alexander IV, to Christ God the Faithful, Emperor of Pavlov; having piously conferred with one another, and with God, as to our intentions to form a most holy league of Christian nations, do solemnly promulgate this the amended treaty of Augustinople.
** ARTICLE THE FIRST **
THE HOLY LEAGUE, or, the MOST HOLY LEAGUE OF CHRISTIAN NATIONS, shall consist of Christian states, who come from the most pious Catholic churches of the East and West.
There shall be for the Holy League a presidency, which shall be vested in the Emperor of the Holy Empire of New Israel;
A commander, which shall be vested in the King of Trebia or anyone whom the King of Trebia shall delegate the command to;
A chancellor, vested in the Emperor of Pavlov, or anyone who the Emperor of Pavlov shall delegate his chancellery to;
A secretary, who shall be invested with his title by the President of the League; who shall keep the records of the League.
The presidency shall promulgate the proclamations which the members of the Holy League shall agree upon.
The command shall co-ordinate and manage the military forces of the states of the Holy League which are pledged to the League’s disposal.
The chancellor shall resolve disputes between the members of the League and represent the League in foreign affairs.
The secretary shall keep the notes and records of the League.
The agreement of the president, the command, the chancellor & the secretary shall be required for the admission of additional states, and the creation of amendments to this Treaty.
** ARTICLE THE SECOND **
That which is requisite for admission into the Holy League, to define a Christian state, will be any of the following criteria:
A majority Christian population, and
A devout Christian head of state, and
An article of law defining aforesaid state as Christian, and
A dignified (e.g., serious) foreign policy and form of government with the intent of national independence.
A non-Christian state may be given a semi-admission into the League by the approval of the President, waiving any criteria, but these states shall be admitted only for the purpose of creating protectorates of the League where the League finds it necessary, strategic and prudent to do so.
No state shall be admitted into the Holy League which shall have been supportive of the Protestant Reformation, nor shall any state be admitted which shall have enacted any article of the Protestant faith, i.e.:
Persecution and suppression of the church Catholic; or
Insult and propaganda against the church Catholic;
Any heresy or error promoted by the Reformers that is condemned by the most holy church;
A policy of iconoclasm.
Neither shall a “Catholic” state be accepted when involved in any association defined as schismatic by the Holy See.
Neither shall a “Catholic” state be accepted when accepting heretical theology contradictory to the teachings of the Church.
** ARTICLE THE THIRD **
THE HOLY LEAGUE shall, by the concurrence of the president, commander, chancellor, and secretary, and upon the advice and consent of a majority of the other members, engage its committed military forces for the protection of Christian states and the liberation of oppressed Catholics.
THE HOLY LEAGUE shall be a defensive pact between its members; if one is attacked unjustly, the entire League shall mobilize to defend its member. An attack against one shall be an attack against all. Any state refusing to come to the aid of another shall call a vote of the entire League to call the war into question - if the League shall agree the defensive war to be unnecessary, then the state that refuses shall remain in the League, but if the League shall agree the defensive war to be necessary, then the state that refuses shall be removed from the League ipso facto.
A concurrence of the president and the commander, and the majority of the other members, shall be the qualification for the expulsion of any state from the Holy League.
All military deliberations of the League shall be protected by secrecy and the willing violation of secrecy shall be grounds for a removal.
The League shall formulate military strategies for the defensive protection of each of its member states.
** ARTICLE THE FOURTH **
Each state of the Holy League shall be entitled a single vote in every matter of deliberation; and vassals of a state belonging to the League shall be granted no vote, and no privilege but the right to protection and the right to observe the non-secret proceedings of the League.
The League shall conduct its proceedings in the manner most convenient to a majority of members.
The most Christian monarchs assembled for the promulgation of the Treaty of Augustinople, are:
EMPEROR MARKUS II
OF THE HOLY EMPIRE
And
HIS CATHOLIC MAJESTY PAOLO EMILIO I
KINGDOM OF TREBIA
And
BRENDAN O'BRIEN I
GOVERNOR-GENERAL OF RENFREW
And
ALEXANDER IV
TO CHRIST, GOD THE FAITHFUL, EMPEROR OF PAVLOV, ETC, ETC.
Who have established the Holy League on the calends of May in the year of our Lord’s nativity two thousand and sixteen,
and amended this most sacred treaty on this the calends of August in the year of our Lord's nativity two thousand and sixteen.
